    Which parts of the Standard materials are not properly translated by the converter ?
    If it was that easy, it would have already been done

      I am also getting those messages "Texture map (normal bump) is incompatible with Vray and may cause problems" after upgrading to VRay 3.4.03, Max 2017 and Win 10. Bug?

        No, it's not a bug and has nothing to do with 3.40.03.

            Would be better to convert them to VRayNormals actually, there is a one click solution(VRay Scene Converter) like Peter suggested.

              hi,
              i`m getting the invalid bump normal on some multiscatter objects(i think). they`re using vraymaterials with noise + speckle bump maps and randomly going crazy. sometimes the bump mapping doesn`t even work, then rerender and it does. see image for lots of invalid bump normal warnings, 28000+ and not finished rendering.
              sometimes there are lots of errors, sometimes not. it`s most weird. happens on 3.40.03 and also 3.50.04. 3.50.04 can also suffer from significant lightcache slowdown randomly when using render region(in this scene), switch back to render full view and no slowdown. in 3.40.03 i just rendered a frame fine no errors, stopped hit render again and 1000`s of Invalid Bump Normal errors. it doesn`t seem to be a standard material issue ?

              a bit more testing..i`m using 3ds2017 for 2.50.04 and 3ds2016 for 3.40.03. it seems to happen in 2017/2.50.04 more than 2016/2.40.03 but since it`s rather random it`s difficult to be more accurate.

                Have you run the vray scene converter?
                Set V-Ray class properties en masse with the VMC script

                  hi olly,
                  i haven`t, i`ll try it but i don`t know what it will convert. the materials are already vray, light is a vray sun.
                  ...ok, just tried it and nope it`s still there and still random. render and no errors, render again and thousands of errors. weird.

                    the convertor does different things depending on what version of vray you are running - sorry I am not sure which version does what!

                    A recent-ish update converted normal maps to vray normal maps and that solved similar errors for us.
