  • bitmap blur 0.01 unexpected result ?

    hi,
here`s a little thing i came across. bitmap blur set to 0.01 gave a strange corner patch which produced no bump. setting blur to 0.1 fixed it.
    it`s just a bump map. 2016/vray 3.40.03.
    thanks

    Can you attach a scene?

    Best regards,

Apparently the issue is in the Bitmap node filtering. You can reproduce the same behavior with Scanline renderer.
To workaround the issue: Right click in the view-port and choose V-Ray Bitmap to VRayHDRI converter. This will switch the Bitmap nodes with VRayHDRI ones which have better filtering.

          hi zdravko,
weird. well changing the blur to 0.1 seemed to sort it as well. i`m not sure i`d want to convert all my bitmaps to use vrayhdri. but at least you found the culprit.
          thanks

You don't need to convert any hdri; just use the loader with any filetype you have

As Zeronove said you don't need to convert your bump textures to HDRI ones. You just need to use VRayHDRI node to load whatever bump texture format you want. This won't affect the rendering performance or scene size.
