  • Deep data flipped

My deep data output seems to be flipped on the z-axis when I load it into nuke.
This means that the closed objects are furthes from the camera and vice versa.

I've been looking through my options but can't find a lot of them and it doesn't seem like there's a lot of help to get from google either.
I've tried to flip the axis in nuke using a shuffle node but given the nature of the deep data in exr this doesn't seem to work either.

Does anyone else have this problem or any tips to fix it?

    Using a 3dsmax 2016 with Vray 3.40.02.

It's the first time I see this mentioned. Is it possible that your camera is somehow scaled in 3ds Max?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

      Hi Vlado.

Just for testing I did a completely fresh scene as well with only a fresh camera and 2 boxes with the same result.
Also I have discovered that when using progressive sampling with deep data it corrupts the .exr files.

Oh, hm. We don't actually output deep data during progressive rendering - V-Ray should print a warning about this, do you see anything in the V-Ray log?

        Best regards,
        Vlado

It made a warning that said something like Region Partially cut out. Though I couldn't find any documentation on what that actually meant. I guess I know know.

But the problem with the flipped z axis is when I render with bucket image sampler.
Also the objects in the point cloud I generate in nuke appears very small.. I don't know if this helps... ? I can do a scene and a render if this helps

Yes, if you can attach a scene and a render it will be very helpful to check what's going on.

Here's an image of the setup in 3dsmax, and how it looks in nuke.
Also to note that the representation of the deepdata is very small.

I've zipped the .exr and .max file here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...lado/vlado.zip

Thank you for your help Vlado

I've loaded the zipped .exr in nuke and it looks fine. It also looks different than your screenshot - in my case there aren't floating yellow samples between scene objects.
