Sharp IES

Hi,

I am trying to achieve sharp IES effect, something like on a picture below. But no matter what I do or what ies file I use its still so blurry and ugly. How you done this sharp ies effect please? Or is it done in Photoshop?

Hi,

You could use an .ies designer to make your own ies file.

I used to do this but I read that lighting designers consider sharp artifacts like those in the image to be ugly. Apparently good quality downlights should have smooth transition between dark and light areas. This might explain why you most of the ies file you found are like this.

I have those. But its sharp only when I put it few cm from wall. Otherwise its really blurry.

Make my own IES with generator. I have this generator for a lot of years but never really use it Only some test and so on long time ago. So now I tried to achieve sharp and realistic result.
