usually displacement tears the edges at uv seam border. If you merge them together it should work fine, but you have to have supporting topology there to subdivide the mesh.Dmitry Vinnik

Also is it a texture map or a procedural map that drives your displacement, if it's a texture shouldn't you be better off with 2d displacement. And you should set a negative shift value of your displacement amount too.
