  • grainy vrayspecular render element

    hi,
i have a scene rendering without GI. one vraylight-hdri for reflection and one vraylight-hdri for lighting and an ambientlight.global subdivisions
blurred vraymaterial with Rglossy of 0,85 brings out a specular pass that is very grainy. if i layer this twice it look ugly, also because this grain moves.

any idea either than making the noise threshold smaller down from 0,005 to 0,0001 ( there it is ... better) but rendertime is 4 times longer !

    ...max2018 file attached

    thanks for help

Yeah that's true, you can't clean the Specular RE only without adding more sampling and increase the render time (more or less), but you can Denoise it. The V-Ray Next beta has an option for this in the UI or you can also use the plugins for Nuke.

is your light source small? it could be that you need to use local subdivs and increase light and shader subdivs

We will be removing the "use camera path" feature for the light cache. It prevents V-Ray from optimizing the rendering and ultimately leads to longer render times.

It will stay for the irradiance map.
