  • Start Interactive Rendering

This has been mentioned before, however, I don't think that I have heard of a solution, or if there is one. V-Ray, with all the defaults in IPR mode, takes 12 minutes to start rendering. The screen is frozen and the VFB says Not Responding. No displacement, but with Proxies and Forest Pack. Once the render does start it only takes 30 minutes, so waiting for 12 to start seems like a problem. HELP! I have 12 stills to render out before morning.

Probably there are too many proxies or other elements in the scene and it takes lots of time to export/load them.
If the regular rendering takes the same amount of time then we could expect the same thing from the IPR rendering.

Have you tried to re-export proxies with Optimize for Instancing enabled?

I don't think I ever looked at that button. Is it on by default?

Is there ever a time when you DON'T want that option on? I'm just asking because that seems like one of those things that should just be on by default.

            Kind Regards,
            Morne

I'm not sure if this particular option matters for you case, Bobby (yes, it's on by default). Can you get me the vraylog.txt file from your temporary folder right after the render? It may help to figure out where the time is spent.

              Best regards,
              Vlado

I'm done with that project. If it happens again I'll send it over.
