GetBitmapInfo for a tx file

Not an SDK question per se, but is there a way to get bitmap info for a tx file using maxscript.
getBitmapInfo doesn't work for that file type, obviously vray has some ability to get it as it can display the texture through vraybitmap.

OIIO Tool, or image magick can do that.

As Lele suggested, an external tool will do the job. V-Ray reads the .tx files internally but they are not registered as a 3ds Max bitmap file type so getBitmapInfo() does not recognize them.
