  • Additional Opacity Map options

Would be awesome to have some options for the opacity map channel like "thickness"

Not necessarily for anything on a large scale. Sometimes when viewing something with an opacity map from an angle, the effect can be pretty undesirable. If there was an option to have a minuscule thickness with a color/map slot that could be pretty handy. A step further could be a "edgetexbump" effect.

Examples: paper cutouts, perforated materials, easliy creating oddly shaped holes into non-flat geometry, small button inlays on products etc.

    Thanks Chaosgroup

Have you seen this thread - https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...from-alpha-map ?

Interesting that you link to my thread Slizer yet you haven't answered there. Is such a feature under investigation by you guys? It would be really useful. The workaround with displacement maps is rather difficult and doesn't produce the best results.

I'm considering bringing up the question to our developers, but don't expect anything for now. It looks like a very complicated thing to solve if we want it to be properly working for most of the cases.

Thank your for the fast reply. Bringing it up couldn't hurt I guess but I understand that this may not exactly be a VRay issue but rather one of the host program. Nonetheless it would be a cool feature in VRay for sure!

It works very well with vraydisplacement modifiers and water level but if we could have an a "simpler" option for a tiny thickness, I will appreciate a lot !
              (Sorry for my bad english)
