  • Wish list. Shader representations in Mari and Substance Painter.

    Hi guys.

I wish that Chaos Group would work with Foundry and Adobe to create an accurate shader representation in Mari and Substance Painter/Designer.

There is incredible potential in the field of shader look development. I really think there should be a strong push to close the gap between texturing software like Mari and Substance Painter with V-Ray.

I think the art of surfacing will be greatly improved by painting textures that plug directly into an accurate shader representation of the V-RayMtl.

    Thanks
    Steve

I was wondering about this a while ago to, substance painter used to use GLSL as it's shader language and you were able to load in other shader files to use in the viewport. Vray for maya apparently had a glsl version of the vraymtl in it's installer somewhere so it might be worth looking at that?

I think you have to contact the substance people directly here https://www.substance3d.com/contact to ask them for the Substance SDK if this helps.

We already have a version of the VRayMtl shader that we have sent to the Foundry. It mostly works although there are a few minor bugs to be fixed.

        Best regards,
