  • Better support for Max's ActiveShade

As of Max 2020, we've seem quite a few changes on Max's viewport and activeshade. This later gives the user the ability to directly manipulate the scene on a IPR environment, display edge lines, model, etc.

It's a definite step up on a simple IPR viewport.

Would be nice if VRay properly supported that too

    Hello,

That is already supported in V-Ray Next for quite some time (since 4.10.01) - there is viewport IPR with both V-Ray and V-Ray GPU available.

    Best regards,

You're indeed correct! I did test while it was still in the Beta, and I must say I'm pleasantly impressed on how VRay's IPR turned out on the viewport! I suspect this takes advantage of the advancement made on the active shade fragment in Max to leverage that cool interaction?

      At any rate, nice job!

        Thank you

Indeed it needs some of the fragment code in Max to work (and this is the reason we don't support it on older versions).
