  • Allow Lens Effects Size slider to go beyond 100

When rendering in 5k and up, usually a Size of 100 is inadequate for some of the atmospheric effects I'd like to achieve. I note the Intensity slider can go beyond the slider max if a value is manually entered, however the size does not behave the same way.

My 'wish' is that either via the slider, or manually, I could set the Lens effect Size slider higher than 100.

I also have the problem. Or better - but don't know if possible: If you´re working on a lower resolution, doing some adjustment on Lens Effects until you´re happy then it would be pretty smart if that result might be taken 1:1 for the final higher resolution. So sliders may not be about pixels rather than relative to Picturedimensions.

might be able to achieve the result by outputing the effects channel separately at a lower resolution and then in post prod' res' it up and drop ontop perhaps ?

I´ll step over to your new thread - yes, might be a possible workaround for Stills, but for animation would be a sad thing to render - just for that - double.

Any response from the devs possible? Seems like a slider limit is fairly arbitrary and could be fixed very easily. As it stands, for 5k renders the lens effects are useless for me with a size limit of 100

Тhe size parameter of the Lens Effect is a percentage of the image diagonal, so it doesn't make much sense for it to go beyond 100%.

Here is an example how the resolution does not matter:

If it was that easy, it would have already been done

Why limit me at 100% if 100% isn't enough?

Because the buffer would have to be enlarged, potentially costing a *lot* of memory.
How is 100% not enough for you?
Can we see a sample of it?

p.s.: as for any other such case, you have the ability to render with an overscan, should you find limiting an effect to the final resolution's size bothersome.

You can go up to 200% in V-Ray 6.1.
