        Scripts are cool - but I'd still prefer it to be a basic part of the lights functionality. If I wanted to use custom scripts and controllers just to point a light in a direction I'd be using Maya already...

        But seriously - I trust there's more than 3-4 people who would like this?

          I second that!

          the best is to have like in the standard light, a radio button for the target on/off state.

            I think this is done just to annoy us I don't know if this is still the case in v3, but the "VRayLight" in FinalRender was standard a targeted Light with Target ON/OFF switch, while there was a script to make a rectangle Light the VRay-way....

              Targeted does not mean "non rectangle" or "non are light". I would like a rectangle "area light" with a target and on/off switch (could be default to off).
