  • vrimg converter...again

VRay renders things very nicely, very quickly, is not expansive etc... ect...

But I can't anderstand why we still have to "play" with such a prehistoric command line tool like the vrimg converter...

It's an hudge waste of time each time you use it.

I (we?) realy miss an interfaced tool to see/export/convert all the channels that the vrimg file format can handle.

    could surely be scripted.
Could you be more specific as to what you need it to do?

          Well...
          - a standard Windows "open file" window that allow you to browse your hard drive an open a specific .vrimg file.
          - when file is open, the soft would display all aviable channels stored in it.
          - some tick box in front of each aviable channel to choose what channel you need to extract into .exr format.

          that's all

Not sure what you mean here, and not sure if i can display a vrimage from within max at all.
Will try and see what happens.

            Thanks,

Optimally, the vrimg converter should be rewritten to allow one to view the vrimg files, access the channels, and save out to a couple of different formats. Even better would be if it was just a photoshop plugin, that worked with viewers like xnview and such.

Some early information about some further things in our pipeline.

There is already a GUI made for the vrimg2exr converter, which will allow you to extract all you have(need) from a saved vrimg file just in "one click".

It is just a matter of time until the tool gets out.
                Thanks for your patience.

                Best regards,

Very simple to do via script, would need to get ahold of all the command line options, but if lele is busy I can do it quickly. Let me know lele if you're doing it already.

GUI4vrimg2exr works pretty well (with the caveat that I have not used it for a while).
