You might have a bit of a wait yet, it is in a very early stage.

Build around vray in general, it's similar enough and you can use DR to help the interactive renderer along so it's not like you need anything out of the ordinary.

What's the word on this now, last I heard we would be able to get it the last quarter of 08?

Ancient thread I know, but heres a link to a cool fprime video. The end 30 seconds are particularly impressive.

Rendition for Mentalray begins to be well optimized and it begins to be integrated with an acceptable level into 3ds max ...

i'm afraid, rendition may be good for product shots, but its GI is just not good enough, whatever your settings.
I personally managed to crash it repeatedly before reaching an acceptable GI quality, without ugly edge breakups, by having to crank the settings to infinity and beyond, and popping out of ram.
I may have done it wrong, but i'd like to see one example of an edge where perpendicular planes meet with good enough occlusion.

For the moment I saw two different aspect of what will be the Vray RT:

The first is an ActiveShade mode as Maya IPR, the view refreshes when you change something but only when you let go the pressure on the mouse button.
It might be included in version 1.6 of Vray.

The second is the RTengine, a standalone that is more close to Rendition, we can navigate in a previously exported sene with the *.vrscene format.

              as test here : http://www.evermotion.org/vbulletin/...ad.php?t=67392

In short we are not yet at FPrime 3 level which is completely integrated in lightwave, but it's seems to progressing well.

              Best Regards,
