I've checked twice, and there is a VRayMtlID render element. Would have been very surprised otherwise. (As well as render and object id)

    Best Regards,

    A.

      Does it works with 1.5.00 sp1 ???

Best regards... and sorry for my stupid wishlist request...

I'm using 1.5 sp1, and it work fine here. If I assign an ID to a shader it will appear in the VRayMtlID render element. Maybe you should give it a try with a more up to date build.

        Best regards,

You can also use VRayMultiMatte. It has a checkbox to use Material IDs instead of G-Buffer IDs. Works like a charm.

in the multimatte rollout check red gbuffer on, default id is 1, you just have to make sure your mat's id matches the multimatte's.
even though I'm not sure I see the point of using it with a single mat which overrides any other in scene.
