Deep Shadow maps for VRayFur would be a really nice feature, since in MR it works really well with MR's hair primitives. Any chance this is already "under construction"?

For the time being, you can use VRayShadows with area shadows enabled - it's not the fastest thing, especially compared to shadow maps, but it works well. V-Ray specific shadow maps are definitely on our road map, but there is no specific time as to when they will be completed.
