  • Material Editor

Entirely revisited vray material shaders...and way to create them.. like in fry for example or maxwell will be great, with a way to save them and reuse them again with custom material scenes for each situation like emiter, glass, displacement........
    Best regards,
    Andrian

Agreed! I've Been working on a "Frylike or Maxwelllike" material editor in maxscript for some moths now, but it's really far from perfect. But mine is just a floater replacement of the original UI without the material editor's bulkiness, and an option to list and sort materials by type and name.

I'm no programmer, so official, and professional support in this area would be much appriciated. Anyway, I think this is already on the to-do list, since a shader manager is a must if you're thinking in standalone.

    Best regards,
    A.

Have you looked at NodeJoe or the Schematic Material Editor (SME)?

The standalone version of V-Ray has only very limited GUI functionality, and we don't have immediate plans to change this. This is quite on purpose - it's main goal is to render images, not to replace your normal modeling environment. True 3d applications have way more advanced editing capabilities than we can ever hope to implement (e.g. Maya's shading networks, or the approach taken by VRay4C4D, or the simplified material editor application developed for V-Ray for Rhino and Sketchup, which you can find at http://asgvis.com/index.php?option=c...id=6&Itemid=59).

      Best regards,
      Vlado

Well, Ill bet you could write a quite nice GUI, but yours is a very, very good point nevertheless!

I don't want to start another thread for this, so might just ask it here. Would it be possible to make a progressive material preview window similar to the realtime preview feature? For example, if I would like to add such a window to my custom editor.
