  • Easir and Faster way to do animation / moving Objects with GI

We have had little luck with animation Pre-pass or the numerous scripts
for faking it, is there a a way that this could be improved and streamlined?
It would be amazing not to have to fake it or use work arounds to avoid flicker and really high render times. We love Vray, only area I would love to see an improvement really.
    Cheers

Can you explain in a little more detail what is your experience with it? If you have any specific scenes that might be useful, you can send them to vlado@chaosgroup.com so that I can check them out.

I think he means in general, like is there any way u can tackle the flickering stuff not to happen?

What i'd really love to see is the option for a "single sample" mode:

(*)Add “single GI sample” tickbox to both Vray object properties and VrayMtlWrapper. Would take single GI sample from selected objects pivot (same if it’s a material on a multi-mat object). Good for vegetation and other items that would benefit from the speed increase. Would be better than making invisible to GI in animated scenes.

Of course; use brute-force GI and there won't be any flickering issues whatsoever. But this was not the point of my question - without knowing how you approached the issue, I can't tell you what you did wrong or in a sub-optimal way. For example, in one user case, there were many small objects in the scene, on the size of one pixel or less, which caused issues. In other cases, the problem was very low GI settings to begin with (the interpolated irradiance map do require some reasonable sampling values; they cannot clean up splotches, only stabilize them).
