  • Full Preview of Proxy

We would be REALLY gratefull if there would be an option to set proxy's to full object in the scene in addition to box, preview from file and point

We're rendering a lot of masks for scene normally with scanline and it renders the vrayProxies 'as is' meaning the preview from file (triangled chaos)

if we were to able set it the proxy to show the full object we would have no problem
    rendering them with scanline ...

would this be at all possible ?

First: depending on the number of proxies, you could run into memory issues when having the full objects in the scene.

Second: did you take a look at Rendermask ? (http://www.tepavicharov.com/scripts/render_mask.exe) Just be carefull with some VRay material type like VRayMtlWrapper: Rendermask does not supprt opacity maps in those !

I realise it might result in memory issues, having fullobjects but that's a risk we're willing to take ... right now, we're dead in the water because of this 'missing' feature.

we're have a certain Pipeline which we altered slightly to include/make us of vRay proxy (which are awesome don't get me wrong) but now another part of the pipeline is broken because of that.

Do you have to use scanline for the masks?

I've always just destroyed my render settings to be as low as possible and done them in vray. Still take under 2 seconds a frame.

In your global switches you can pretty much uncheck everything, apart from maps if you want opacity. Displacement wouldnt have shown up in scanline anyway, so you can turn that off if it was working for you before.
AA can get dropped down to 1/4, GI turned off, and you can probably speed it up a little more by messing with the DMC sampler.

Couldn't you use a Vray Light Material as an override to create alpha masks?

In more recent builds, you can specify the preview detail when you export the proxy. There is also a possibility to bring back the proxy as an Editable mesh. With these features, it won't be necessary to change anything about the proxy preview in the viewports.

            Best regards,

                      that sounds great.
But if say I set the previewdetail to low on export, will I still get the full object when I bring it back as eMesh ??
                      if so, then awesome..

Still, leaving it a proxy while being able to toggle between full and lowres preview would've been nice as well ...
