  • Vray Sphere Fade from objects

First of all, vrayspherefade is a small little gem that I use very very often, already saved me LOTS of rendertime while making quick corrections in animation.

    My wish.

The ability to use any mesh as vrayfade object without using gizmos.

You simply add a vray fade object checkmark in the vray properties and at rendertime you only see this object being rendered, no more gizmo setup needed.

If I have to rerender a cross for example, I would render faster if I don't need to render all the space between the arms of the cross. I just need some extra pixels around the shape of the cross to fade.

    thanks for considering this!

Hmm, that's not a bad suggestion; I will see what can be done. It is not easy to do the falloff for an arbitrary mesh, but it's not impossible...

    Best regards,

I'd give it a VRay Fade bounding box checkbox aswell, with an amount. I believe one of the cool thing about VRay Sphere Fade currently is that you get the shadows from the object as well, so the suggestion here would mean you wouldn't get the shadows from the object on the ground. If you added a bounding box checkbox and an amount, you could say you want it to be as large as that objects bounding box, +1.0m so you get most of the shadow from the object as well.

duke2, that's a good remark about the bounding box. The only problem with my proposal is that we can't render objects with very long dropshadows, they will be cut of. If needed this could be combined with the already existing gizmos.

I personly think that 99% of the time this "fade from objects" setup with a good working falloff will be enough.
