  • Per-object custom AA

    Hi,
I dunno if it was talked earlier, cause can`t find something specific about it - but - will be possible to have per-object custom AA ? Like in mentalRay you can assign a specific amount ( ranges ) of AA to any object. AFAIK it is possible in MR beacuse of its hybrid nature ( scanline & raytracer ).

And second question - any tips about speeding rendering when ~2/3 of rendered image is a terrain with texture and the rest is geometry ? It is neccesary to have high AA settings because of geometry, but it is waste on the terrain texture.

    So far,
    Radomir

I would also appreciate this A LOT !!! Often you have a few objects or materials which are difficult to AA and for them you have to raise the AA settings of the whole scene, rocketing the rendertimes through the roof.
I would propose object AND material specific AA settings (a simple AA multiplier spinner won't hurt nobody)

      Vlado, please, please...

        Hellou,
I don`t want to be rude, or anything like that, but, could we get some appropriate answer on this ?

        Thank a lot,
        Radomir

well actually, of course it would be nice,

but i think you can achieve quite similar in setting min max and threshold in a good way? things that doesnt need to get AA'ed will not then anyway get the high aa setting.

still i agree it would be nice to give a certain importance to objects with custom AA on object basis. sometimes some objects are more important than others.

              cheers

That`s is logical, but it doesnt work that way, just try it ...

for me it does quite well, the dmc adaptiveness also help you controll it. i use rather high values there.

agreed more perfect a force higher (or lower) AA on objects would be great.
                  cheers
