As I am sure that Chaos Group is aware of the issue that presents itself when trying to apply grass proxies to irregular shapes. As it stands now, you basically need to create several different proxy shapes of varying sizes and "paint" them by hand to fit into irregular spaces. It would be great if you could do a simple array of proxies and then use a shape or 3d solid as the basis for clipping that group of proxies. I envision this working similarly to how Adobe Illustrators clipping masks work.
There is a compound clipping object within MAX already but when applied to a proxy or series of proxies it makes them render as a bounding box.
This would be a very handy feature! Thanks for (hopefully) looking into it!
