What about measured BRDFs? Is it still planned?
Here is nice database of measured BRDFs: link

VRayMaterial does have BRDF settings (in the BRDF rollout heh)

V-Ray has always used physically plausible BRDFs for its materials...

            Humh...

Vraypaint 2.0 pretty much... ee I hate it

About BDRF it only has ward/phong/blind shaders, I was wondering more about diagram that mental ray got, not that I need it crucially but it would be fun to experiment with...

Are there any particular reasons? What would make it better?

Actually we have a material that allows you define arbitrary BRDFs, although it is not too user friendly. It needs actual measured data, although I guess you can paint some yourself. Will see if I can put it online along with some examples...

Huhuhuh I think simply what I ask for ages ago, 2x specular control 2x reflection control... the ''speckle'' looks quite weird at 10k renders+.... so have no use for it now, will play with it again once I have force, maybe its just me that cant use it... For now I'm stuck to blends...

about the paint shader university of science 2(if I'm not wrong) was working on an car pain material for some year now.... at 1Q 2011 they told me they will release material to public use for max@mental@vray so finger cross...

                      UP

I'm in need to have a BDRF control like mental ray gives, 90degree, 20 degree and curve. I got some custom BDRF's to create and as far as it goes I cant do it in vray for the moment.

Any news on getting BDRF for vray please?

                      Thanks, bye.

Out of interest, what kind of material are you unable to create with current Vray material?

I got a scan of a carpaint - I can recreate it mental ray - more or less, but unless I can access BDRF I cant get it to look alike.

There is a Vray Miafalloff script somewhere that adds a map that emulates mentalray falloff curves. Just can't find the link for it, but it should be somewhere, either in this forum or on Chaosgroups page.
I'm sure Vlado can provide a link.
