  • vray mesh light pivot point

apologize if this is been covered already, tried a quick search but didn't find anything.
with vray 1.5 any time I pick an object as a mesh for a vray light, the object's actual position changes in relation to the light. or so it seems, I'm not able to find a rule or a consistency (like the mesh getting centred on the light pivot or anything like that).
this is quite annoying and random, as I can't understand where to put the vray light so that the meshes don't get randomly displaced around the scene.
would it be possible to pick a mesh and having the vray light actually centring on the mesh's pivot? without the need to replace the geometric light where the object was before?

I can't reproduce that with simple meshes (sphere, teapot etc) - when I pick a mesh for the light it stays where it is and the light moves over to it. If you have a specific case where it doesn't, can you get it to us at vray@chaosgroup.com so that we can find the issue?

    Best regards,

I'll strip down a scene and send it over as soon as possible. but if you say it's not supposed to happen, then it's surely my fault. even though I seem to remember this happening in more than one case.

I said that it does not happen for me on a few simple tests; it's entirely possible that there are cases when it doesn't work properly Looking forward to the file.

I sent the file over, but I still think it must be me messing the whole thing up along the way either way, I'll be glad to see how to stop them lights from going around as they please..

just to wrap this one up with a happy ending. it was, as I suspected, all my fault. as the guys at chaos pointed out, even though the mesh pivot was centred on the object, having moved it around while working on the scene kind of messed it up. an xform modifier took care of the problem.
thank you guys for taking the time to look into this, brilliant and quick support as usual.
