      Can you not just make the light invisible and use the same texture as environment map too?

            I would really like to have the option in the light. Primary reason: workarounds add variables and this multiplies the potential for user error. There are *so* many settings that can torch a render or kill countless hours tracking down the problems they can generate. I'd strongly urge for the simplest solution if only to save me from myself

                If it is as simple as adding an 'affect alpha' check box to the dome light settings, then that would be really helpful.

                      the dome light is a very handy "one stop shop" for lighting and environment GI--having to duplicate a texture into an environment slot somewhere else just to see it in the background is kind of a nuisance.. if an option is too complex, to me it makes more sense to disable alpha contribution for the dome altogether since it makes the alpha completely white anyway.
