  • Vray light

is there a reason for when you bring a vray light into the viewport (top)
it comes in the wrong way round ?
    this is so annoying.
i just wish it would be the right way round ........

Yes come to think of it I often have the same problem whenever creating a V-Ray light you always have to rotate it 180 to get it to face the way you want it.

Yes, and if you try to align it with a max light it will point to inverted direction...

This particular thing is not easy to fix without breaking old files, so for the time being it has to remain that way. Maybe I can change it so that at least during the creation the light is oriented in the standard way for 3dsmax.

perhaps an invert direction checkbox would do the trick. or an auto-detect script in newer releases that would detect vray light planar normals in relation to past vray version numbers - thereby rotating them automatically 180 degrees. I'm not much of a programmer unfortunately so I take your word that it causes issues down the line. Would love to help you out if I had half the brain...

Also when using the place highlight tool , the vray light flips and faces away from the object. No matter wether you turn it the right way before you use Place Highlight or not

Why not just let it be targeted. Max's free lights can at any time be converted to target lights, and they get their target gizmo placed at a default distance in an perpendicular angle. Would this be impossible for vray lights?
