    Can a user-defined ID be implemented in the vray version of the multisubtex?

    We can do it, but it would be pretty much identical to using the Object ID, no?

      Vlado,

      Its useful when you want to mix different sets of multisubtex maps.

      E.g. A scenario could be for scatter scenes, you want to assign random diffuse on the leaf color, and another set of maps on reflection channel based on distance. Rather than having a few copies of the same material for near, mid, far you can drive the different channels using an object attributes.

      Plus, I think a lot of people already use Object_ID for assigning matte ch's using multiMatteElement, an extra ID set would be handy for some workflows.
