  • Intensity Map Slot for VrayLights

Like the subject says, I would love to have a map slot in a VrayLight that lets me map the output intensity (from black=0% to white=100% of light multiplier) separate from the color and opacity. This would add another level of custom control over lighting. Would be awesome!
    Thanks,
    Andrew

You can do this yourself pretty easily by instead of using just a colour map in the colour slot, put the colour map into a composite texture, and use your black and white map on top of it in multiply mode.

I'm not aware of a colour slot, is this the same as the 'Use texture' slot? I need to do some tests, but I don't think your method will produce the same output as what I had in mind. I say this because I am working on a scene in which I have placed a white-black gradient texture in the texture slot of a white VrayLight. The Vraylight casts light directly on a white wall, and the result looks much darker than it should. So, it seems the light is actually casting a dark light, not a less intense version of a white light.
I'll create some images to better illustrate my idea.
      Thanks,
      Andrew
