  • SSS Cache for static lighting

I wish there were more controls for SSS caches.
    We use them a LOT.

I would like an incremental mode for where the lighting is static and only the camera is moving.

Have you tried the geometry sampling mode in the nightly builds? It is completely view-independent.

    Best regards,

regarding the cache files: What is the correct way to use one file for the whole sequence?
Vray appends the frame number to the file. Will it automatically use the cache for that frame for every frame if it doesn't find a cache for the current frame?

        No it doesn't.

That is a bit of a pain.
We end up duplicating the file for multiple frames which is a waste of network bandwidth and HDD space.

Some simple controls to solve this alone would be great.

Vlado: I didn't realise that the geometry mode sampled the whole surface. Thats great, will use this for sure.

        Thanks!

Thank you very much for your feedback.

I have added feature request into our system about using single cache file for the entire animation.
I'll inform you as soon as we have it implemented.
