  • DMC SampleRate render element

I know this probably isn't the easiest thing to implement - but man I'd love for there to be some way to visualize how many Secondary samples are being taken in a scene the same way the SampleRate element lets us see what the Primary Rays are doing.

    Maybe something like:
1- You add the DMC SampleRate render element
2- In the render element's settings you have to pick a specific Light, or a specific material's reflection or refraction component, or GI.
3- It shows you what's going on for that specifically picked aspect of your scene.
4- Add more DMC SampleRate render elements for other aspects of your scene.

That's the best I can think of, maybe there's a better way?

Vlado was mentioning that he was going to do one for Reflection, refraction, light and GI parts too - likely just a time thing for the 3.0 release! It's maybe not quite as fine grained as you're mentioning but it'll definitely be a huge help.

Any word on this? It's #1 on my list of things I wish I had in V-Ray.

With only the SampleRate render element for the Image Sampler, we're only given half the picture of what's happening in our scene's sampling.

        Thanks!

What I can do without making things too complicated and slowing them down, is add a render element that can show the combined number of samples for secondary effects. Then lights and materials would have an option to add their samples to that render element.

          Best regards,
          Vlado

            Yes! That would be perfect!

Please have 4 modes to start off with: Lights, GI, Reflection, Refraction.

And please let me know if it needs any testing once it's ready for nightlies!
