Sure, was thinking that, must give it a go and see will it work nicely for convex stuff too. Not exactly the same but better than nothing at the minute.

It can work in a pinch, but it does have a number of issues, like it doesn't work for concave edges, it's slow to render on a real scene, causes artifacts near skinny edges, etc. But yup, a good workaround to know about for sure.

I'd love this to add wear to things. Always struggled with using VRaydirt because of the reason neil pointed out (though VRayDirt is awesome, of course).

Yes, one of the developers is already working on it.

                  Best regards,

On a slightly related note for the likes of substance - any word on that glsl file for the vray material that you had too?

Just as a thing neil, the program I wanted the curvature for, substance painter, now has a curvature and ao baker built in to it, plus tri planar mapping. It's well worth a quick look.

Yup, I've seen the software. But it requires uvs on my objects, and I work uv free almost entirely, so its not appropriate for my workflow. That's why I'm so happy to see curvature coming for max.

But there doesn't seem to be a demo to try it.

On the page you linked is a "download demo" link at the right hand side. The demo has a few restrictions like mapslots are deactivated and other special features. Also you can't change colors.
                                Cheers,
