  • Ambient Occlusion Texture Bake Element "VrayAmbientOcclusion"

    Dear all,

I miss a texture bake element that bakes Ambient occlusion only. Right now I do the workaround of applying a vraylightmaterial with a vraydirtmap as override material to the scene, but this has the disadvantage of also being applied to glass and other transparent objects. Also it would be a charm to bake ambient occlusion along with rawtotallight in the same run, saving an extra step.
Since one can switch on AO while rendering with irradiance map for still and movie renderings, I thought it would be possible to bake AO in the same run while baking all other render elements. Would this be possible?

Thank you much for your feedback.

Yes, it's on the "to do" list.

Thank you Vlado, this is good news. I am happy about the quick responses here at the Chaosgroup forum.

      Kind regards

Same drawbacks but it's a lot more straight forward to use an VrayExtraTex Render Element and use the vraydirtmap. Then you can get your AO as a RE.

          Hi Gavin,

I use your approach also for rendering movies or stills. But in this post I am looking for AO in a texture baking process.
So what I miss would be a VrayExtraTex texture bake element, if I wanted to use your approach.
Until then I use the override material switch along with a VrayCompleteMap in a second render job.
