  • quick stable preset for animations with GI and moving objects

I was hoping vray 3.3 had a preset setting
for fast stable rendering of animations GI and lightmap with moving/animated objects.
now you have too rely on third party tools or scripts, too do something like this.

i rather have had something like the 3 presets vray dialogbox has, only
now for animations GI and lightmap with moving/animated objects.
One click solution for calculation and rendering.

    thanks in advance.

vray 3.3 works practically at default seettings for animations with moving objects. im not sure what you are on about needing thirdparty tools?

just remove 1 minute time limit, go to lightcache and turn up retrace to 6 or 8, maybe increase its subdivs a bit.. and render.

      nice stable animated scenes?

yes its just me doing it wrong.

i did a test with the default setting, only changed the progressive into the adaptive sampler.
          and it holds up.

i guess i had those issues because i rendered with too low values for irradiance and lightcache.

thank you for the replies and tips.

dont use irradiance for scenes with moving objects/gi. its never good enough unless you use such high settings that it takes longer than BF anyway.

If you still get flickering with BF/LC then you can try Use Camera Path (especially if only the camera moves, but sometimes helps with scenes with moving objects as well), more samples for LC, and increasing the retrace threshold.

thank you all, for the tips and pointers.

yet every post has some different advice on how too tackle it.
so a couple of presets from chaosgroup on how too tackle gi and animations, would
still be handy in my opinion.

                like
                superfast gi with animation.
                medium gi with animation
                high gi with animation

I now work with Fake Gi aka Ambient light with a dirt map for the animation, since other options are way too slow too
                render on one computer.

ah yes.. your options are somewhat limited when rendering on one computer. i dont think there is any solution on earth for animated gi on one pc.. unless you have 7 titan x gpus crammed in there, and use RT.. and even then, it would be quite a long wait for a full animation at decent quality.

preset wise.. assuming you want gi, new vray, best option is just to use a higher color/noise threshold and accept a grainy animation, or, use irradiance map and suffer the blotchies.
