  • Some wishes (Pannini projection, filmic tonemapping, cubemap lenseffects,...)

This is my personal wishlist so some of these have been asked already and are probably being worked on right now and some have been asked but didn't have a response from CG so I'll just link to those threads:

    Asked already:

    • Pausing and resuming rendering: http://forums.chaosgroup.com/showthr...ause+rendering
Has been asked a few times already and Vlado responded already but I'm quite excited for this one and RebusFarm already uses some kind of version of it so it must be more or less available? Don't want to sound impatient but I think everybody would benefit from this. Next Service Pack maybe?

    New Requests:
    • When using lens effects with cubemap, stereo spherical panorama,... the effects are being spread across the border of the different views, which is quite logic, but is it possible to make them apply correctly? Cut them off where a border is and apply them (moved, rotated or whatnot where they would be) I wouldn't know how, if it's even possible at all.

    • A small something and probably another 3dsmax thing; when I convert a VrayMat to a Vray2SidedMat with keep old as submaterial, the viewport preview of the diffuse bitmap (or other) stops and I need to go and reactive it.

    • The lens effects in a seperate renderelement, this has been asked a few times too I think: http://forums.chaosgroup.com/showthr...render+element. Actually the way I tried it in post works: take the beauty pass with lens effects and one without and subtract it from eachother. But it might be handy to have it as a seperate element as I don't know if it's any different and I have to save 2 versions (one with and one without).

    That's it (for now )

    NEW REQUESTS (17/10/2016):

    Asked already:
    New Requests:
    • The VrayLightMTL displayed as a light in lightlister.
    • More options for MultiSubTex: Currently I use the CoronaMultiMap for color randomization (in color/softlight overlay in a comptex, for variation in diffuse or reflection or whatnot) because it just works for Vray, but I'm not sure if Vray has an equivalent. I know Vray has the MultiSubtex but it hasn't got the same features I need. I could just keep using the Corona one, but maybe it would be better if Vray had its own. You never know that one day it doesn't work anymore with Vray or when I might sell an asset for Vray then people need to install a Corona demo as well. So it would be better if something like blending between maps/colors, mix amount, hue randomization, seed,... was either added to the multisubtex (if possible) or put into a new map.

No problem Vlado, you can't be on top of everything Thanks to take some of these into consideration.

I know there's a script/plugin for this somewhere but I don't want to depend on it and it didn't work flawlessly.
          BatchCam! (http://sergepogosyan.com/batchcam/)
No idea how I lived without it before. If you do lots of still images with lots of cameras - this script is really awesome.

Why not use RPM as so many of us do?

Yeah, but you still need to click the set viewport button apparently everytime you switch camera's, it's not that much faster than using custom resolution presets in the render settings.

Because it costs half what vray costs and I have no need for anything it has to offer me by the looks of it. Also I looked at all the screenshots and I don't see the option to automatically refresh the viewport safe frame ratio depending on the camera you use. If it is implemented, I might consider buying and start using it because I can see the potential of it and it might benefit my stills.

Use batchcam 2, I often have different resolutions and ratios for different cameras and it's a one click solution.

What do you mean by refresh viewport ratio?
You can set a different ratio for each pass so when you go from pass to pass it will load all the settings and cam.
Sounds like basic stuff or am I missing something?

I meant the safe frame in 3dsmax that shows you exactly how the render will look like in terms of framing etc...

It's a crucial part of my workflow,
I wouldn't be able to work without it anymore.
I was reluctant to get to it 6 years ago, now I would be way less productive if I didn't had it.
Way more important for us than Forest Pack and Railclone, and we are a archviz company... That tells a lot
Well worth the price IMO, by far

Ok just tested it, it's exactly what I need for a few things gonna ask my company to invest in this.

I couldn't live without RPManager. Visibility sets alone are worth the price. It paid for itself in the first project. Such a time saver. And it guarantees another artist can open a project and work with the passes set up correctly without having to manually hide/unhide or change object properties. Grant Adam, the developer, provides excellent support, he has always been there for us.
