  • VrayLightSelect Render Pass for VRayLightMaterial

Sometimes I create a VRayLight from a Mesh, and sometimes I might apply a VRayLightMaterial to a Mesh instead.

It'd be nice if one could add a Render Pass, like VRayLightSelect, but for Objects which have had a VRayLightMtl Material assigned to them (as they are lights in reality).

It's not difficult technically, just regular 3ds Max include/exclude dialog doesn't allow to "pick" materials, so I'm not sure how that would be organized. Any thoughts on how to link the two from a UI point of view? Perhaps we could allow picking of regular objects in the light select, and if they have a VRayLightMtl material in direct mode, it will be added to the element?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Or perhaps objects which have the VrayLightMaterial assigned could be included in the list of Lights (when pressing "H" or choosing Select Object icon) ?

Yes, I can probably do that; will make a note to look into it.

Does the VRayMaterialSelect Render Element not work for this?

Can't do it via maxscript at the moment as I get this:
              (getclassinstances VrayLightSelect)[2].lights = #($Sphere001)
-- Runtime error: Invalid value for property: $Sphere:Sphere001 @ [48.521637,-19.685772,20.039307]
