  • Wish: Render element "VrayLightSelectGI"

In absence of a better name, I'll just call this "VrayLightSelectGI". Basically what I would like is a render element, that works in conjunction with the VRayLightSelect element, but instead of rendering only the selected lights' diffuse (and specular) values, it renders all the GI lighting the selected light's are causing. So basically a VrayGlobalIllumination element per light (or a selection of lights).

Ideally this would go in conjuction with a "VrayLightUnselect" element, which would render everything EXCEPT what VRayLightSelect and VRayLightSelectGI are rendering. So when layering those three elements on top of each other, it will create the final (tweakable) image.

Would any of this be possible at all?

It's been requested several times in the past and believe Vlado and the team have been working on this or similar feature that not only get you a much more robust LightSelect Render Elements but LightMix or MultiLight like functionality.
    always curious...

+1. A few of the guys are using Corona in our office. The light selects with GI are amazing.

We will not be adding any new render elements; instead, the VRayLightSelect will have an option to store all contributions of the given light(s), including GI, reflections etc. This is planned for sometime next year with V-Ray 3.6. We do not plan on including a light mixer with V-Ray 3.x itself, but you'll be able to add the elements in the post-processing program of your choice.

        Best regards,
        Vlado

Adding these options to the LightSelect element will work even better. Looking forward to it! Will it be possible to add the option to invert the selection? So basically that everything is rendered EXCEPT what the selected lights affect? This would be the base element to add all those LightSelect layers to...

Yes, that should be easy enough.

            Best regards,
