  • DR: Include/Exclude local host during rendering

Would it be possible to add the option of adding or removing the local host participating in Distributed Rendering on-the-fly? Sometimes you launch it with the local host included and suddenly need the processing power in another program. It would be cool to just have a switch in the Frame Buffer to start or stop the local host participating.

Why not simply switch to low priority thread ?

      I think its there already.
When you hit render you get 3 windows (usually) the frame buffer the vray log and ... dont have a name for it.... where the render cancel button/ time estimation 3dsmax window.
Down at the bottom of that dialogue box is a tab, that I didn't see for ages that says vray advanced parameters.
If you click the plus button it opens up an option to click the dr settings button while rendering.
you can add machines here and I think (not at work to check) you can untick local host.

Does this affect memory usage as well?

I don't have that... maybe it was added some time after Max 2014? We're still on that.
EDIT: Sorry, I do have it. I wasn't unsing DR to check if it was there Obviously that field only appears when you have DR enabled. Nice!

Well, as per my EDIT above, I DO have that field, but I've noticed that unfortunately the "use local host" setting is greyed out and can't be changed.

So, my wishlist entry is still valid.

IIRC the "use local host" toggle was only for beta versions.

Still, it would be incredibly useful and I don;t think anyone died from having too many options!
