  • Skip existing Frames

When Im using the V-Ray VFB and sometimes for what ever reason things happen and the animation is incomplete or missing frames, can we get a working skip existing frames option? I may be completely wrong that the current one may or may not work but assuming it doesnt as Max always asks me if I'm sure I want to render an sequence with no assigned file.
    Cheers,

Ok I really needed this today, had a bunch of frames go bad and rather than trying to input all the bad frames in to the render panel it would be far nicer to have it like the max VFB handles it where I can just select "skip existing frames" and let it go. Especially when Im rendering 4000+ frames and I have a couple hundred bad frames.

Will make a note to look into it (we can just reuse the existing 3ds Max option for this), but it will take some time, I'm afraid.

Do you write to a multi-channel .exr file, or you use the "split channels" option?

        Best regards,

90% of the time Ive been using split channels but have been experimenting with using multi-channel files, My one office currently has me limited to Adobe CS5 collection so Im limited to some degree on what I can do, hopefully this isnt for much longer as I run the latest Adobe software at the other office.

Well in any case support for this option is implemented in the nightlies. Not sure yet if it will go into the 3.6 update though.

SWEET!! I'll have to check them out on my other farm tonight Thank you Vlado I owe you a few more beers for that one lol. You need to come back to Canada for a bit, I know some great places in the Rockies that have NO cell reception so you can totally unplug lol. Ive been doing it on a regular basis and my health is improving a lot because of it.
