Hi bardo, This specific feature is not yet supported within V-Ray for Blender, but it is a useful one nonetheless. I will log it on our end as a potential improvement to be implemented in future releases.

I think that it's crucial to have it because it's quite heavy and slow to use always the rendered viewport to preview how a texture will be applied to a mesh.
For a scene with few objects&materials it's not a big issue..but for large projects could become easily a big issue.
I hope you'll find a way to, at least, to show the VrayBitmap.
I did addon for that many years ago, V-Ray 3 and Blender 2.79 time. I modified and it now works with Blender 4.1.

If you have V-Ray Bitmap node selected then it shows that image even if its not connected to anything. If no Bitmap nodes are selected then it shows the first one which it finds. That way you can show any image on 3d viewport, not only Diffuse.
