  • VRayBitmap missing Rotate/Flip Horizontal+Vertical

    Hi,

is it possible to just add the Rotation and Fip for Horizontal Rotation in the VRayBitmap directly for domelights?
The workaround that I found seems to be to connect a VRayUVW Mapping and then another V-Ray Transform that has very strange parameters (Offset in cm? Rotation is doing strange things, and Scaling is 10000?) <-- Though that seems to be because the scene units are set to cm.

Anyway I dont think this is very intuitive
Or maybe there is a simpler option that I am missing?

Hello JonasNöll, Apologies for the delayed response. The reason we have no controls for horizontal/vertical rotations in the bitmap is that, when used with a dome light, the bitmap is already tethered to the dome light itself. Rotating the light along any of its axes allows you to control the rotation of the bitmap, as demonstrated in this example:

Of course, if your workflow requires a specific approach for some reason, please feel free to share it with us. We’ll take it into consideration and do our best to help you achieve the desired results.

      Hi,
thanks for the reply. So i personally prefer to have those options also in the VRaybitmap itself is that at least in Max the Spherical Bitmap would alwas have to be flipped horizontally so that for example text in the bitmap would be displayed correctly, though I didn't check in Blender if that is also the case. So I normally always flip it horizontally no matter if the VRayBitmap is linked to the domelight. In Max there is the option to link it AND/OR control the rotation through the VRayBitmap. Controlling it through the VRayBitmap has the advantage that you can instance the same VRayBitmap to other Domelights and everything is updated accordingly. Also at least in Max rotating the light itself tends to be more unstable, updates the IPR slower and leads to more crashes compared to controlling it through the VRayBitmap alone. At least those are my experiences in Max.
So if in Blender there would also be the option that would be nice.

I can definitely understand the reasoning behind your request. We've discussed it with the Development team, and it has been documented on our end. We'll look into how this change can be implemented in future releases. Thank you for the excellent suggestion!
