          d_boy, http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150SP1/ ... params.htm
          In contrast to the native 3ds Max Volume Light atmospheric effect, VRayEnvironmentFog covers the entire volume specified by the Fog height parameter or the listed Gizmos - it's effect is not limited to the cone or area of influence of the particular lights that affect the fog.
          So I guess this is how it works, but may be I'm just missing smth...

              d_boy, on renders you show there is a spot and a direct light - why then you use sphere light? =)

                  It works with all lights, but if you want a beam then use lights that has a beam or cone =)
                  Scene attached, settings are low, just for test.

                      • Re: V-Ray/Blender 2.5

                        Hi Bdancer,I tested a bit layered materials(last exporter with blender 2.5 and it seems they are not working well,the weights seem not working at all.
                        As far as I understand you export,for every material,a weight with a color statement(ex. COLOR( 1, 1, 1)) but it seems that it's not working in this way(maybe a vray bug), to work well the weights list needs a texture definition like this(example for a material with 3 sub mats)

                        TexAColor WEIGHT_Base {
                        texture=AColor(1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0);
                        }

                        TexAColor WEIGHT_CoatA{
                        texture=AColor(0.5, 0.5, 0.5, 1.0);
                        }

                        TexAColor WEIGHT_CoatB{
                        texture=AColor(0.2, 0.2, 0.2, 1.0);
                        }

                        and in the layered mat(single material definition else where of course)

                        BRDFLayered BRDFLayeredMaterial {

                        brdfs= List(MAT_COAT_B,MAT_COAT_A,MAT_Base);
                        weights= List(WEIGHT_CoatB,WEIGHT_CoatA,WEIGHT_Base);
                        transparency= Color(0.000,0.000,0.000);
                        additive_mode= 0;
                        }
                        This is the only way I was able to blend material with different weight as I want.
                        Also the little flag to disable the individual material on the right it doesn't work.
                        It could also be useful if the base material were a bit more clearly defined visually.
                        Thanks you very much.

                            Thanks bdancer,now it seems working better.
                            But I have found another little problem with layered materials.
                            When you use as submaterial BRDFSSS2Complex the overall color it's not exported correctly,because it uses as color the diffuse color (if I understand correctly) and not the one into the overall color slot that the user gives,so a material with fastsss as material gives different results if this is into a layered material or if it is a normal fastsss material(as I said previously it seems not exporting the overall color).
                            Apart from this,it seems to work as expected the layered mat.
                            Thank you very much for the blazing fast fix!
