Re: V-Ray for Maya 2.0 beta

but why you guess then ? Shouldn't you know what your script does... ?)?
    I wrote "openCL engine".
Script exports the scene. Thats all. RT engine is just an option that scripts turns on.
RT has an option of using opencl or not. Try render with "use opencl" off.

Why you think the OpenCL Engine doesn't support all features yet ?
Because you have asked "any ideas?" - this was my "any idea" =)

Re: V-Ray for Maya 2.0 beta

It works when I turn off "OpenCL", but then the fast GPU rendering is not supported.

      Do I have to install a OpenCL 1.1 ?
I have a Geforce GTX 480 and it's driver supports OpenCL 1.0 only.

      Kind regards
      Alain

Alain, then I guess this is a OpenCL limitation or some bug. Lets create a test scene and I'll contact chaosgroup to find out the reason.

I've open a thread in the Chaosgroup Forum:

The testscene can be downloaded here:

To see your HDRI image you have to set texture factor to about 100 or disable physical camera.
About OpenCL - don't know, but it doesn't load textures at all...
Btw, Vlado wants you to share all *.vrscene files and textures.

Re: V-Ray for Maya 2.0 beta

i am thinking about updating to vray 2.0. but now i am reading that the standalone version is not seperate with 2.0. that its inide vray for maya. is this true?

if its true would this be a problem to load with your blender script?

and can i have both vray 1.5 and 2.0 installed and use with blender?

I don't know. Please contact ChaosGroup.

                No.

With some tricks (installer will detect and remove previously installed vray so just rename its folder and then install another one in different location) yes.

Re: V-Ray for Maya 2.0 beta

I upgraded to 2.0 by purchasing it at evermotion.org. They consulted my questions with Chaos and the answer was the Standalone 2.0 may still be sold as a separate product - with different pricing than V2Maya.

Re: V-Ray for Maya 2.0 beta

Is is pretty cool that 2.0 offers an RT option.

Would there be a possibility to interactively control the system through Blender similar as in Maya or 3DMax

or can you move the camera inside the VRay viewport renderer?

That would be a long way to go I think..
For now RT acts rather as optional renderer (you mark a checkbox to use it instead of production one).
Nevertheless it is a real timesaver just yet.

in 2.0 there is a new feature for area lights. i think its called ''directional''. i think it can make an area light look similar to a spot light. could this be added to blender/vray?

                            thanks

Re: V-Ray for Maya 2.0 beta

Does anybody knows how to choose only the second gpu for realtime engine with opencl.

I have a quadro fx3800 for displays, and two gtx 460 for rendering.
Probably somewhere one can set it up.

Maybe would be a nice feature to choose the render device from the export panel in Blender - similar to octane render.

                                THX!
