  • V-Ray/Blender Experimental

    Hey there!

Here is a new experimental V-Ray/Blender exporter repository: https://github.com/bdancer/vrayblender

It has some new features, but still in deep alpha.

    It contains these features:
    - Render feedback
    [youtube:dkbsuixu]U8fDLPJzLT8[/youtube:dkbsuixu]

    - Realtime update
    [youtube:dkbsuixu]H4s4K707ur4[/youtube:dkbsuixu]

    How to use:
    - Create a copy of your custom build
    - Remove vb25 exporter
    - Clone vrayblender exporter
    - To try realtime scene rendering choose "V-Ray Realtime" in top menu then start render; now try to move object or change some materials settings.

    Notes:
    - V-Ray will be started when you run Render for the first time
    - Press Terminate to close V-Ray

    Issues:
    - Need to Terminate V-Ray on Windows if there is a error message in log about permission denied on file write
    - Render feedback works on Mac and Linux only by now

Bugreports are not accepted here =)

I have an error message about permission denied :')

How to "terminate vray on windows"?

        Re: V-Ray/Blender Experimental

There is a "Terminate" button in Render panel.

            Hi Andrey,
Do you plan to enable "classic" material preview window, like it is in VB25 "V-Ray 2.0 (material preview)" mode?

            ...this alpha works really nice!

            Best regards

              Re: V-Ray/Blender Experimental

I wont add anything here, its just a preview which will then be merged to the regular vb25 branch or may be transformed to smth new.

Does the realtime update work without a cuda card? I don't have one yet.

This is just awesome! Thanks for all your hard work on this, Andrej!

Realtime seems to work most of the time but I get an error when using node based materials.

                      Re: V-Ray/Blender Experimental

I am confused. What i have to download now and how i can install the plugin? It seems that the instructions are only for 2.5. What i have done:

                      1. Go to this link: https://github.com/bdancer/vrayblender
                      2. Klick on the "Downloads" Button at the right side
                      3. click on "Download as .zip"
                      4. Download it
                      5. Open Blender (official blender 2.62 from blender.org)
                      6. Open "User Preferences"
                      7. "Install Addon"
                      8. Select the downloaded .zip folder
                      9. nothing happens

What i have done after that:

                      1. Go to this link: https://github.com/bdancer/vrayblender
                      2. Scroll down
                      3. Click on the "Installation-Link": https://github.com/bdancer/vb25/wiki/Installation
                      4. Downloaded the file "vb25.zip"
                      5. Extract the folder and put those file in the specified folder
                      6. Open Blender 2.62 (official blender 2.62 from blender.org)
                      7. There is no V-Ray at the Top-Render-Select menu
                      8. Writing this explanation on this great forum

I can say overall that nothing is working
I hope you understand what i have done so far. Any tips how i can install the new exported and use v-ray with it (i want the real time update )? Maybe i am just too stupid or i don't read the right instructions which are perhaps directly in front of my nose. Sorry if this is so.

                        Re: V-Ray/Blender Experimental

you need to install a custom blender version. from here
