yes probably its the light bounced from the box but i cannot disable it - to achieve only shadows from GI.
ive increased "recive Gi" only to show U wheres the problem - I can lower it down but then i lose also GI in shadow parts (so then it looks like there was only direct lightning turned on).
I know result with the matte - Im testing it with book and also found on CGtalk forum that in maya to achieve only shadow these two options should be disabled for the object:
" sometimes you dont want to see the reflexion of the Floor in your rendering ( example in your Carpaint ), because you only want to catch the shadow so you have to uncheck the Tag:
- Visible in Reflection
- Visible in Refraction
in the Objects ShapeNode under the Section Renderstats.
And to let the Rays pass through the Transparent Floor for IBL you have to also turn off the Attribute: Cast Shadow of the Floor in the Renderstats. I think so, but i am not really sure."
