  • Fur Output (Bug)

Hey BDancer, Thank you for a really great plugin!

I believe I have found a bug with the blender hair to v-ray fur. It should be really easy to replicate.

The issue that I have found is, in the hair settings, after applying a particle system to an object in blender, using the Display slider (The slider that allows you to choose the % of strands displayed in the 3d viewport) actually effects the amount of rendered strands in v-ray

It seems like the exporter is taking the displayed number of strands in the 3d viewport, rather than the true total. Bumping the Display slider to 100% gives 1 to 1 results from your in blender strand count, and v-ray. Unfortunately that results in quite a lot of hair strands being displayed in the 3d view.

I hope my explanation makes sense, let me know if I can be of help!

    And thank you again BDancer

    Re: Fur Output (Bug)

I put together a quick graphic, illustrating the issue, hopefully this helps

All renders were done with a Hair Emission of 90000
I switched the viewport setting to show either 5% and 100% of the Emission hair value. Vray keeps this setting at render time, while blender ignores it and renders the full emission amount each time.

Oh another side note, I noticed that the Child fur settings are ignored by vray.
I'm not sure if that's a simple fix though, just an observation!

    Thanks again bdancer!

      Re: Fur Output (Bug)

      Hello,

I've tried to get the child fur before. But it doesn't support yet. I hope to get the child as well.
It would be much nice if we can get the child with V-Ray Blender!!

      Best Regards,
