  • why is my render partially transparent when saving as png?

I am using the latest VB30 build as of 8/13, but this has been an issue from at least June (Sorry for not posting earlier, just busy) When I save a render as a .png file the image is partially transparent. Here is an example, one image saved as jpg (correct) and one as png (semi-transparent) Is there a setting in the output tab that I need to switch? I've updated vray standalone since, but maybe there's newer updates? What's going on?

btw, I post it here because it's in the VFB so may be something with my vray settings, but if I should post to Github, let me know.

Is this with autosave or when saving manually? Autosave seems to work fine for me in vray 3.

I tried that - autosave is fine when I check "No Alpha". But then I don't get a transparent background for compositing. Saving png from the vfb doesn't work any way I try.

Andybot_cg, I think the problem is not the format png you are saving neither the alpha. The issue you are having is with Gamma and color mapping. Look for linear workflow in vray info so you can understand properly how to save your images and don't washed out afterwards.
          Check this tutorial http://www.aversis.be/tutorials/vray...orkflow_01.htm

          Hope it helps, greetings

Nachex, please look at the png file in photoshop, you will see it's not washed out, it is transparent (If you put it on a black background, it will be darker instead of lighter.)

ID:	853983 Yes I see, i downloaded your file and render it, both saving it from output and from the frame buffer in png doesn't make me any transparency. I checked double sided on materials and thats it .

Sorry! It was just my vray installation was out of date. Fixed with installing the current version. Should have checked that first...
