  • Please help bump dot works properly

    Hallo i have a big problem: bump don't work properly in 3dsmax the result with bump map it's perfect,in blender i have to use diplacement mod for have the same result but with very high poly mesh.My vray blender is the nighties of 19/03/2017 and vray is 3.20.01.

    Did it work before? What is your node setup? I've been using Standard material for bump. The bump node doesn't always seem to work.

      with standard mat give me a weird effet ,very jagged and irregular

        i'm very tired i waste the most of the time to try to solve this or another problem,it's very hard works in this way.

            Hi Marcoz. I just tried the bump with the latest build from today.

            I used the default scene (simple cube and default light) with a Vray infinite plane as ground. The bump map is applied to a VRayMtl material assigned to the cube (I always use VRayMtl):

            It seems to work properly with this set up.

                I don't understand the weird look using bump, if i use: from bump looks pretty fine

                  You are right, I also tested the scene using From Bump and it looks better (now I applied the bump to two faces):

                    Hi i retested using bump but decreasing the influece of the texture and i reached results very similar to from bump,probably the texture used it's to high contrasted, but for sure in vray 3dsmax of my friend works well withou any trimmingClick image for larger version

                      Weird, I just tried different setups and it seems standard material is not working, only the bump node. Yes, bump is not working well if the intensity is too high. Not sure why that is, but looks like you got it working.

                          Simply restart the file and now works well.In syntesis i don't know if this is a problem of my computer or a bug but when it occour ,seems be solved restartig the file saved,the console seems no give error message.

                              I ran into the triangulation problem too, and the tip here about changing the Bump type from "Bump" to "From Bump" fixed both the triangulated mess as well as fixing the problem with intensity. For both the Bump Texture and Normal Texture this works properly in the latest version. Did you try that with your materials @marcoz?
