    Yeah, try that with animation

    CG, seriously... still not added?

My workaround is to add a small plane with a hole right in front of the camera.
@sirio76: you mean the render region in the editor? and I dont know the "paint" option you are describing.

In the past I often needed to render with an animated(!) mask.
In projects with water and ships I used to render simple versions of the ships with the high detailted water and later I re-rendered the whole animation with the animated masks of the ships to avoid re-calulating the water. That was very helpful. Would be great to have this feature again.

            Hello RwVision,

The Object ID render mask has not yet been implemented in V-Ray 5 for Cinema4D. Our developers are working hard on fixing existing bugs and implementing new features.

I will make sure to update this thread as soon as we have any news on the matter.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

              Thanks aleksandar.kasabov ,

It got nothing to do with you, but this is simply pathetic. A basic option, which should be filled within a week and still missing after 8 months... Which forces me all the time rendering whole images, instead of objects and saving times + finding workarounds. Unbelievable...

                Hello RwVision,

I understand your frustration. However, there are many factors that our team takes into consideration when prioritizing the development of new features, improvements, and bug fixes. There are times where the development of a new feature is dependant on other ones and we also need to keep this in mind. Not to mention that everyone has different needs for their workflow and considers one feature to be more important than others. We are trying to take all of those factors into account, alongside others, when prioritizing the development and our developers and QAs are working very hard to address the needs of our customers and to improve the product.

I was just about to check in on the status of this. I had hoped the priority of this was increased since it was posted about back in February. It is an important feature in production where i work, and non of us are able to use vray 5 in production until it is added. We have been waiting patiently since it was added to the planned feature post, but now it has been marked as postponed. I just hope the need wasn't under represented, do we need more people to post on this thread to represent the need and increase the priority for the feature? I know many factors are considered when prioritizing features and bug fixes, but please don't let this feature request wait too long.

                    Hey RwVision ,
I'm trying to keep the V-Ray 5 for Cinema 4D - planned features post up to date and a few weeks ago I changed the render mask with the object ID functionality to postponed since we had some issues with higher priority to fix (like fixing the slow material previews for example). Please keep an eye on the features thread, since I'll be adding more stuff there soon.

It won't be postponed for too long, and we do value anyone's feedback and requests here on the forums, so there is no need for too many people to post about this. Your understanding is highly appreciated since as I already mentioned in a few other threads - there is no easy way to catch up on 8 years of feature development for just 2 years.

Thank you, this is the support I would like to see every time. Even if unfinished, discuss and change priorities according to user needs.

Thanks Shaio, I imagine it is not an easy task prioritizing the development, please do keep up the good work. I was just a bit worried since the status had been changed to postponed but I will wait patiently again. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

                          Hello shaio

Still no progress? I'm facing yet another big project, which would benefit from that option. I was kinda surprised the latest nightly does not cover that still.

We will start work on this very soon. We still need to improve a few things on the Node Materials side before we begin because the Render Mask needs to work with them as well.

Not going to lie, I am excited to see that this is marked as WIP on the Planned Features forum.

Keep up the good work, i am loving each new build.

                                Hello zAppledot,

This is correct, we are currently working on implementing Render mask modes.

I will let you know as soon as this is implemented. Thank you.
