sirio76 I like your V-Ray5 metal shaders. Any plans for plastics and other materials?
Yes we have tons of shaders planned for this year, wood, plastic, plaster, liquids, automotive, and much more. If you need specific materials please let us know (ideally by providing some reference) and we will try to add them to our collection
Back to the topic, I'm pretty sure vrscene loading is not yet available but you can be sure that developers are working hard to bring new future and to fix existing bug, so its only a matter of time. In the mean while you can use Vray proxy.
Thanks for the heads up on the shaders. I will keep an eye on your site. I wanted to use vrscenes to test transferring models using VRScans from Modo to C4D. I guess I will have to wait till they add a vrscene loader. Seems like a big omission for the release.
Currently there is no option to import vrscene files to V-Ray 5 for Cinema4D. This is in our to-do list and will be added in the future. This has been discussed here.
As I already mentioned in this forum thread, with the release of V-Ray 5, Update 2 you can now import V-Ray scene files as reference objects. You can do that by going to File> Open Project, by dragging and dropping a vrscene in the viewport, or through the V-Ray menu> Geometry > V-Ray Scene. You can find more information about the V-Ray scene here.
You can download and install the latest build from here.
Still not a way to get shaders in C4D. And as mentioned above, it looks like Chaos doesn’t want Modo users who jus lost there Vray plugin to continue in another software. No transfer, no offer, not even a software solutions.
I've seen quite a few Modo users interested in migrating their workflow to Cinema4D, it would be wise from Chaos to offer some incentive about this and facilitating the switch.
We are planning to implement the ability to import materials from vrscene files. I will let you know once we have more information.
